At the GeekWire Summit in Seattle today, we’re going to hear from a variety of speakers and panelists about how artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming society. The title of our annual tech conference is “AI Gets Real.”
During a recent visit to the historic Pike Place Place Market, I gave tourists and other geeks on the street the chance to get real, and share their impressions of AI.
And because it’s Pike Place Market, we even got a salmon to weigh in on the subject — before presumably being tossed over a counter, boxed up and shipped off to Kansas.
Market visitors talked about whether they think AI is coming for their jobs and they shared whether there are any daily tasks in their lives that they would be willing to give over to AI. Their answers were at times insightful, scary and humorous, and exhibited a lot of the uncertainty that’s out there among the general public in regard to new technology.
We’re expecting more than 500 attendees at the GeekWire Summit at SIFF Cinema (the former Cinerama movie theater) in Belltown today. You can view the agenda — which includes a mystery movie screening — and you can still grab last-minute tickets here. And this FAQ has all the details on timing, parking, dress code and more.
