Chronus, a Seattle-based mentoring software platform, acquired Imperative, another Seattle startup that builds tools for employee engagement.

  • Founded in 2014, Imperative raised $3 million in 2020 to fuel growth of its platform that helps facilitate conversations between colleagues and boost organizational effectiveness.
  • Imperative was co-founded and previously led by Aaron Hurst, who last year founded Board.Dev, which aims to increase tech representation on nonprofit boards. Imperative is now led by CEO Steve O’Brian.
  • “Uniting efforts will allow us to navigate employee purpose, which is incredibly important to today’s workers and critical in driving engagement and employee productivity,” Chronus CEO David Satterwhite said in a statement.
