Another Bay Area tech startup is setting up shop in the Seattle region.
Enterprise security startup OneLogin today announced a $22.5 million Series C investment round and the opening of a new engineering center in Redmond, Wash.
San Francisco-based OneLogin helps more than 2,000 companies like Evernote and Spaceflight Industries manage and streamline their log-in process to various applications. The company, founded in 2009, competes with giants like Okta and Microsoft in the “identity-as-a-service” category.
OneLogin CEO Brad Brooks previously spent nearly a decade in the Seattle region, working as an executive at Redmond-based Microsoft. He led the Windows consumer business from 2008 to 2011 and later became chief marketing officer at DocuSign before joining OneLogin.
Brooks told GeekWire that the 200-person company is in a “hyper-growth stage” for hiring and adding customers. OneLogin will use the fresh cash to hire more engineers to support the growth.
“The Seattle area is home to some of the best tech talent in the nation, so it made perfect sense to open our new development in Redmond,” he said in an email. “We’re thrilled to be joining the community and look forward to building out our team in Washington.”
OneLogin employs 200 people and plans to hire up to 30 employees at the Redmond engineering hub. It also has an office in London. The company was hacked in May 2017 but has bounced back after revenue took a hit.
OneLogin is one of more than 100 out-of-town tech companies that have opened offices in the Seattle area, hoping to tap into the talent pool and poach employees from companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and a flurry of others.
