Bay Area network services company Infoblox is expanding its footprint in the Northwest by doubling the size of its Tacoma, Wash., office.
Infoblox, a company that monitors DNS, DHCP and IP addresses for suspicious activity for clients, first came to the area when it acquired Tacoma cybersecurity company IID last February for $45 million. Though IID had 65 employees at the time of the acquisition, Infoblox currently only employs 50 people in Tacoma. This week, the company announced plans to double that number.
The company kicked off the expansion with a job fair at their Tacoma office on Monday with Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland and several city representatives.
The office’s proximity to the University of Washington Tacoma was a driving factor in the decision to expand, an Infoblox spokesperson said. Infoblox has partnered with the university on several research projects and sees it as an opportunity to recruit college graduates.
“We will be doubling our presence in Tacoma to take advantage of the ongoing innovation in the area and the cybersecurity and analytics leadership coming from local universities such as University of Washington Tacoma,” CMO Ashish Gupta said in a statement. “We’re excited to be a part of the growing tech community and look forward to building relationships in the community and growing job opportunities for the city of Tacoma.”
Infoblox has approximately 800 employees across seven offices in the United States, Mexico and Canada, according to a spokesman. While the company’s Tacoma branch is currently focused on cybersecurity research, Infoblox said it plans to hire in sales, marketing, finance and product management in the latest expansion.
