Software company Dassault Systemes of France, a key Boeing partner, has leased new office space in Seattle and will make the city its Northwest hub.
Gov. Chris Gregoire reported the news this morning after meeting with the company at the Paris Air Show, saying that the move will translate into more jobs in the region. Dassault Systems has an existing presence the Seattle area. We’re checking to find out exactly how many jobs the company is planning to add, and where its new offices will be.
Dassault Systemes is not to be confused with the Dassault Falcon aircraft manufacturer. Dassault Systemes’ CATIA program (which stands for Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application) was used in the development of the Boeing 777 and, more recently, the Boeing 787.
Update, 9:35 a.m.: The word from the governor’s office is that the offices are expected to be in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. No details yet on the number of jobs.

Update, noon: The governor’s office has issued a news release saying that Dassault has signed a lease for 11,000 square feet of space in the West Lake Union Center (in the South Lake Union neighborhood). Opening later this year, it will be a hub for the company’s 90 current employees and for “anticipated additional engineering staff in the future,” the news releae says.
