Another day, another tech company opens an office in Seattle.
Alert Logic, a Houston-based security-as-a-service company with more than 3,000 customers worldwide, just announced a new engineering, sales and marketing office at 1501 4th Avenue in downtown Seattle. The 15-person office, with 6,260 square-feet, has room for as many as 50 staffers.
It also will house an Alert Logic Executive Briefing Center, a hospitality center designed to engage key customers, prospective customers and partners.
“Seattle is an important technology hub and opening an office in Seattle puts us physically closer to a number of our customers and prospective customers, as well as key growth partners like AWS, Microsoft and Google,” said Alert Logic CEO Gray Hall.
The new office will be led by Alert Logic Chief Marketing Officer Ben Matheson, who previously worked in marketing roles at Amazon Web Services, VMware and Microsoft. The company — which offers security solutions for major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace Cloud and others — also has operations in London, Cardiff, Belfast and Dallas.
The arrival comes amid a boom in engineering offices in the Seattle area, with companies such as Apple, Alibaba, Dropbox, Oracle, Sears and Staples looking to tap into the technical talent in the region.
In fact, I just took a guest columnist in VentureBeat to task for saying that Seattle will not be a critical center for cloud technologies going forward. Alert Logic’s arrival is one more proof point that Seattle is quickly becoming the cloud capital of the world.
