Portland, Ore.-based marketing verification startup SheerID named Stephanie Copeland Weber as the company’s CEO on Monday. She succeeds SheerID co-founder Jake Weatherly, who is taking on a new role as board director and strategic advisor.
Weatherly, who started SheerID in 2011 with co-founder David Shear, called Copeland Weber his “handpicked successor.”
“Starting and growing SheerID for more than a decade has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and this is the perfect time to hand the reins to our new CEO,” Weatherly said. “Stephanie will do a wonderful job leading the company through our next stages of growth.”
Copeland Weber, who will join SheerID’s board of directors, has more than 25 years of experience growing businesses as a strategic and operational leader. She previously spent six years at Ruby, where she rose to become CEO. Prior to that, she was VP of customer success and VP of operations at GuideSpark.
SheerID helps consumer brands run special deals for students, teachers and the military. The startup’s platform collects information from consumers to verify if they are eligible for these deals. Companies such as Amazon, Google, Home Depot, Spotify, T-Mobile, and Walmart use its solution.
— Pinecone, the cloud-based vector database for AI applications, named Lauren Nemeth as chief operating officer and Bob Muglia as a board member. Nemeth was most recently chief revenue officer at Twilio. Muglia is a tech leader and investor who was previously CEO of Snowflake and past president of Microsoft’s Server and Tools Division.
— Jessica Nguyen joined Docusign as deputy general counsel for AI Innovation and Trust. Nguyen previously held legal roles at Avalara, Hibu, Microsoft, Payscale, and most recently Lexion, which was acquired by Docusign earlier this year.
— General Motors promoted two executives with Seattle ties to senior vice president roles. Dave Richardson, who earned a Ph.D. and a master’s in computer science from the University of Washington, previously founded cloud computing company Skytap. Baris Cetinok is a tech vet who helped launch Microsoft Office and Amazon Payments in Amazon Web Services.
— Ashley Levesque resigned from her position as VP of marketing at Seattle marketing tech firm Banzai, effective June 7, according to an SEC filing. Levesque spent almost four years at the company.
— Seattle’s Pacific Science Center announced the addition of Freeda Warren as chief administrative officer, focused on increasing the organization’s impact and building support for major initiatives. Warren was most recently a senior VP at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
— Rene Bystron, who started the Seattle-based AI education app AI LaMo, is launching a new venture called DeltaGen, a platform aimed at making interfacing with AI tools more accessible.
— Kyle Swan, a longtime Portland-based executive at Silicon Valley Bank, started a new position as director at the financial institution.
— Meg Manazir, a longtime communications professional at Microsoft, said she is leaving the company to recharge and take space to explore what to do next. Manazir was most recently director, executive platforms and narrative architect for Microsoft Advertising.
