Tagboard, a Seattle-area startup that helps sports, news, entertainment, and other brands produce live broadcasts, raised another $4 million.
The 50-person company launched more than a decade ago to help sports teams display social media content. But it has expanded since then and now focuses on cloud-based production software that lets content producers integrate graphics, interactive tools, social media, and more in broadcasts across various channels.
The idea is to help brands create content without much of the resources required for traditional graphics systems.
Tagboard works with the NBA, which picked the company for its NBA Launchpad program that identifies emerging tech, and recently inked a deal with ESPN. It has more than 600 clients, including FOX Sports and UFC.
Last month Tagboard announced integration with Adobe Photoshop and real-time production analytics from Amazon Web Services. It is also exploring ways to use generative AI to quickly build contextual graphics for media producers, said CEO Nathan Peterson.
Investors in the latest round include NBA Equity, Blue Star Innovation, Ryan Sports Ventures, Greg Norman Group, and Singularity Capital. The company raised a separate $8 million round last year. Total funding is $17 million to date.
Tagboard is ranked No. 81 on the GeekWire 200 list of top Pacific Northwest startups.
